Black History Month Pan African Film Festival 2025

It’s Black History Month. Gayle Anderson reports the Pan African Film & Arts Festival begins Tuesday, February 4th, at the Culver Theater. The 2025 Theme is “Dream Beyond,” which reflects PAFF’s commitment to inspiring creators and audiences alike, encouraging them to envision a future where Black excellence and creativity know no bounds. By expanding to Culver City, PAFF aims to reach a wider audience, provide more opportunities for filmmakers and artists, and foster greater cultural exchange within the Los Angeles metropolitan area.

February 4th is opening night for the Pan African Film Festival at the Culver Theater. PAFF is the largest Black film festival in the United States, celebrating its 33rd year of showcasing the work of Black filmmakers, artists and storytellers from across the globe.

It highlights diverse voices and perspectives within the African diaspora through film, art and culture.

This year’s festival will feature more than 150 films from 34 countries in 19 languages, including world premieres, international screenings and independent films rarely seen in mainstream cinema.

It’s a unique opportunity for audiences to see thought-provoking narratives, groundbreaking documentaries and innovative short films created by Black filmmakers.

The decision to cancel the ArtFest comes in response to unforeseen challenges caused by the recent fires, which significantly impacted planning and logistics.
