16-year-old boy killed, man hospitalized in Hawthorne shooting

A shooter killed a 16-year-old boy and left a man hospitalized in Hawthorne Friday.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies responded to the shooting on the 4200 block of Broadway at around 12:27 a.m.


Arriving deputies found two victims at the scene — a 16-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to his upper torso and a 32-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his lower torso.

The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene. The 32-year-old victim was transported to the hospital for injury treatment. No suspect was found at the scene.

Although the circumstances surrounding the deadly shooting remain unclear, detectives believe the incident is gang-related. No suspect description was provided.

The victims’ identities were not released as the investigation continues.
