Police are searching for two women wanted in connection with distraction burglaries targeting victims in Orange County.
The suspects were identified as Scumpina Ciuraru, 33, and Portocala Stanescu, 21, both Norwalk residents, according to the Fullerton Police Department.
The pair was last seen in two separate distraction burglaries that occurred in the Fullerton area.
Authorities advise residents to always be wary of strangers suddenly approaching them. Distraction thefts typically involve suspects creating a scenario to divert a victim’s attention, allowing their accomplices to steal the victim’s belongings.
Common strategies could involve asking the victim for directions, making small talk, complimenting them on their jewelry or creating a scene that requires the victim’s help.
Anyone who recognizes the women in the Fullerton burglaries or has information on their whereabouts is asked to call Detective N. Curtis at 714-738-5327 or email ncurtis@fullertonpd.org.
