Stolen dinosaur statue returned to L.A. gas station

A beloved dinosaur statue that was stolen from a Sinclair gas station in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles has been returned, apparently in one piece.

The statue, named “Claire,” was stolen in the early morning hours of Sept. 27 from the station at 13060 San Vicente Blvd. Surveillance video showed a person wearing a hoodie, using a power tool to free the dinosaur.

The 50-pound fiberglass statue reappeared at the gas station on Monday, along with an apology note reading, “Sorry for stealing Claire! Please do not press charges! Thank you!”

Further information about the statue’s return has not been made public.

The dinosaur has been a popular fixture in the neighborhood. The gas station owner regularly decorated the statue, dressing the prehistoric pal in various outfits and accessories, including Dodgers gear, wigs, hats and tiaras.
