High-speed carjacking suspect arrested after pursuit through L.A., Orange counties

A carjacking suspect was arrested after leading deputies on a high-speed chase through L.A. and Orange counties Friday night.

The pursuit began out of Compton before the male suspect, in a white SUV, entered the 605, 105, 405 and 5 Freeways.

The driver continued speeding on the highway into the Orange County area as L.A. County sheriff’s deputies followed closely behind. A spike strip eventually took out the suspect’s front driver’s side tire.

He exited at El Toro Road in Laguna Hills, where officers successfully executed a PIT maneuver, disabling the SUV.

The car drifted on the sidewalk near a gas station before stopping. The suspect stepped out of the car and surrendered to authorities who surrounded his vehicle.
