A Long Beach school aide who worked with disabled children was arrested and charged for allegedly possessing and distributing child pornography.
The suspect was identified as Jaylee Brackman, 22, of Long Beach, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Brackman was employed as a school aide with the Long Beach Unified School District. She reportedly had access to and worked with children with disabilities.
A district spokesperson told the Long Beach Post that Brackman was a contractor, and not an employee of the district, who had been “providing services at Hughes Middle School since January 2025.”
Her alleged crimes were discovered following an investigation into a separate child pornography case, police said.
On June 3, she was located and taken into custody for the alleged possession and distribution of child pornography.
On June 5, she was charged with one felony count of possession of child or youth pornography. She pleaded not guilty during her arraignment and is being held on $20,000 bail.
Detectives are searching for more possible victims “due to Brackman holding a position of trust working with children who are disabled,” LAPD said.
If convicted as charged, Brackman faces up to three years in state prison. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 17.
“This defendant held a position of trust with some of the most vulnerable children in our community,” said L.A. County District Attorney Nathan Hochman. “The exploitation of children in any form is absolutely unacceptable, and my office will aggressively prosecute anyone involved in this kind of predatory behavior.”
