Authorities in Orange County are searching for three suspects who attempted to burglarize the Louis Vuitton store at Fashion Island mall and got away early Monday morning.
Details surrounding the burglary are limited, but a California Highway Patrol spokesperson told KTLA that Newport Beach Police Department officers requested CHP take over a pursuit of burglary suspects at 3:51 a.m.
The CHP officers responded but were unable to officially launch a pursuit, as NBPD officers lost sight of the cars, which were said to be traveling on the 405 and 605 freeways at high rates of speed.
Newport Beach officers reported three vehicles were involved: a dark-colored Audi, a dark-colored BMW and a black Chevy Camaro.
Video taken by KTLA shows police units in the parking lot of the mall in front of the Louis Vuitton store. The store itself sustained some damage, but no merchandise was taken, according to authorities.
