Rams could be calling Arizona home for Monday’s playoff game

The National Football League announced a potential change to the Vikings-Rams playoff game scheduled for Monday night at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

The Wild Card matchup is currently scheduled to take place about 10 miles from the Palisades Fire, Los Angeles’ most destructive fire event ever, and 17 miles from the 10,000-acre Eaton Fire

The NFL released a statement Wednesday stating that they are preparing to play the game at SoFi Monday night but that there is a contingency plan if a change in location is needed.

“The NFL’s priority is the safety of the Los Angeles community,” the statement read. “We are grateful for the tireless efforts of the first responders. Our hearts are with Los Angeles and everyone affected by the fires,” a portion of the NFL’s statement read.

Should the game need to be moved it would still be played on Monday night but at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona instead.

“We will continue to closely monitor developments in the area and will remain in contact with public officials, both clubs and the NFLPA,” the statement read.

After a slow start to the season, the Rams have won nine of their last 12 games. They are preparing to play a 14-win Minnesota Vikings team.
