A bomb threat scrawled in graffiti on a bathroom wall led to the evacuation of Garey High School in Pomona on Thursday, though a search later revealed the threat was unfounded.
Pomona Police Department spokesperson Aly Mejia told KTLA 5 News that the threat was reported a few minutes before 11 a.m. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that they also responded to the scene to investigate and provided three K-9 units to assist.
The school was evacuated at the decision of school staff, Mejia added.
Pomona Police later confirmed that the search was completed shortly before 3 p.m., and students and staff returned to class.
There is no threat to the surrounding community, police said.
