The man accused of killing a woman in unincorporated Ventura County is back in the U.S. after he allegedly fled to Mexico.
Christian Hillairet allegedly killed 26-year-old Carolyn Nino De Rivera Saturday night in the 12000 block of Sisar Road, which is located between Santa Paula and Ojai in an area known as Upper Ojai.
He then fled to Mexico on Sunday, was arrested in Rosarito on Monday and returned to the U.S. on Wednesday, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Hillairet, who has been identified as being 24 years old by authorities but is listed in jail records as being 25, was booked into Ventura County Main Jail on a murder charge on Thursday. He’s being held in lieu of $5 million bail.
He’s due to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on Monday.
