Disneyland’s Hungry Bear restaurant, known for its varieties of burgers and funnel cakes, is getting a new menu and name inspired by relics that once called “The Happiest Place on Earth” home.
Hungry Bear Restaurant, now known as Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree, will offer a robust barbecue menu and music. The restaurant’s musical element was inspired by the famed Country Bears attraction, which was at the park from 1972 to 2001. Walt Disney World in Florida recently unveiled an updated version of their Country Bears attraction.
The revamped restaurant will also mark the return of a traditional barbecue restaurant at Disneyland. The park hasn’t had a dedicated barbecue restaurant since Big Thunder Barbecue closed to make way for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, according to Theme Park Insider.
Chef John State, culinary director for food and beverage at the Disneyland Resort, said during a D23 panel that the new menu would include “traditional favorites,” according to SFGate.
Disney shared a glimpse at what guests can expect to see on the revamped menu.
Entrées and Desserts
- Smoked Barbecue Combo Platter: A selection of house-smoked meats served with baked beans, house slaw, white bread, and pickles with a choice of two of the following: Pork Spareribs, Pulled Pork, Sausage Link or Beef Brisket
- Barbecue Pulled Pork Sandwich: BBQ sauce, house slaw, bread and butter pickles, served with beer-battered fries
- Smoked Beef Brisket Sandwich with BBQ sauce, pickled red onions and pickled jalapeños served with beer-battered fries
- Smoked Angus Beef Burger and Pulled Pork with American cheese, golden aïoli, pickled red onions, bread and butter pickles, and crispy onions served with beer-battered fries
- Corn Ribs Plate: Chile-lime aioli, parmesan, crispy onions, cilantro and scallions with house slaw and beer-battered fries (Plant-based)
- Loaded Fries topped with smoked pulled pork, queso sauce, pickled red onions, and pickled jalapeños, cilantro and scallions (New)
- Classic Cheeseburger served with beer-battered fries
- Chicken Tenders Plate served with house slaw and beer-battered fries
- Banana Pudding: Bananas, whipped cream, crushed wafer cookies, dulce de leche and toffee
- Funnel Cake Fries dusted with powdered sugar
Drinks
- Sparkling Strawberry-Pickle Lemonade: Simply Lemonade, Minute Maid Strawberry Smoothie, flavors of lime, Sprite, pickle juice and a pickle spear
- Strawberry Shortcake Lemonade: Simply Lemonade, Minute Maid Strawberry Smoothie, sweet cream topping, shortbread crumbles and strawberry dust
- Lemonade-Iced Tea: Simply Lemonade and Gold Peak Unsweetened Iced Tea garnished with a lemon wheel
Disney hasn’t announced an opening date for the Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree restaurant yet.
The restaurant’s revamp comes as Disney continues work to revamp Critter Country, now known as Bayou Country, ahead of the opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure on Nov. 15.
