A new fast food restaurant in Riverside will be operating with a novel concept: no indoor seating.

Chick-fil-A at 6299 Van Buren Blvd. is set to open Thursday, catering to drive-thru, carry-out and delivery customers, but indoor dining will not be on the menu.

Gone are the days of going inside, waiting for your number to be called and then dining on your meal from the confines of the restaurant walls — at least at this restaurant. You can, however, eat at the outdoor seating area.

The franchise owner-operator and the nation’s most popular fast food chain said the new restaurant is “designed for speed and efficiency.”

The company says the new location will bring around 120 jobs, both part-time and full-time, to the community.

As part of its grand opening, the restaurant will be recognizing 100 “local heroes” in the Riverside area, providing them with free Chick-fil-A entrées for a year. Chick-fil-A, Inc. has also donated $25,000 to Feeding America in honor of the new restaurant.

Another drive-thru only Chick-fil-A opened last year in Lancaster boasting the same number of jobs created and offering the same donation and local heroes giveaway.

Scott Kisow was chosen by the fast food company to be the independent owner-operator of the new restaurant. Most Chick-fil-A restaurants are owned and operated by a single individual who operates it as a small business, rather than an investment property, the company said.

Kisow has worked for more than 30 years in the local restaurant industry and he plans to operate the new location alongside his wife and children.

“While I’ve had the pleasure of serving the Riverside community for decades, I’m looking forward to this new opportunity to connect and show care to our guests,” Kisow said in a news release issued by Chick-fil-A. “Our family is excited to continue building long-lasting relationships in this community, and our team is eager to serve.”

The new location will also be partnering with local food banks, shelters and soup kitchens and providing them with surplus food through the Chick-fil-A Shared Table program.

Kisow’s restaurant will be open for drive-thru, carry-out and delivery from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The fast food chain is famously closed on Sundays.
