A dead body was discovered in a California neighborhood on Thursday after a resident saw a dog drop a human skull on a sidewalk, officials said.

The Fresno Police Department was called to the area of Nicholas and Florence Avenues in downtown Fresno on Thursday morning after a resident reported seeing a dog drop a human skull on a sidewalk.

Responding officers searched the area and found a decomposing body, believed to be an adult male, in a shed about a block away, per reports.

Police told KMPH that the dog had taken the head and walked off with it.

Police said they do not currently suspect foul play, but are waiting for a cause of death determination from the coroner’s office.
