The 26-foot-tall Marilyn Monroe statue that has called Palm Springs home for three years is about to be moved yet again — but this time it won’t be going too far.
The statue, known as “Forever Marilyn,” is currently located in the middle of the pedestrian-only road Museum Way, which is adjacent to downtown Palm Springs and is near the Palm Springs Art Museum. It’s been there since June 2021, and has garnered some controversy for its risqué nature and for potentially blocking view of the museum.

But now, the statue modeled after a scene from Monroe’s 1955 film “The Seven Year Itch,” is moving off of Museum Way.
The Palm Springs City Council announced on Thursday that an agreement has been reached to move the statue to nearby Downtown Park, which is adjacent to Museum Way.
No exact location within the park has been determined, the statement said, but that will be finalized within the next 30 days.
“Forever Marilyn” was designed by Seward Johnson in 2011 and has seen several homes since. In addition to Palm Springs, its been displayed in Chicago, New Jersey, Connecticut and Australia.
