One person was killed and another was hospitalized after a shooter opened fire in Boyle Heights Saturday.

Los Angeles police responded to reports of a shooting near Wabash and Evergreen Avenues at around 3:20 p.m.

Arriving officers found two victims at the scene — both described as men in their 20s.

One victim was pronounced dead at the scene while the second victim was rushed to a local hospital in unknown condition.

The shooter had fled the area before police could arrive. 

Photos from the scene showed a large portion of the street was cordoned off by police tape as law enforcement surrounded the area.

The motive behind the deadly shooting remains under investigation. The victims’ identities were not released.
