A teenager who was wanted for a murder in Iowa was shot by police in Anaheim Friday afternoon.
The suspect was identified as Victor Antonio Delgadillo, 18, according to the Marshalltown Police Department in Iowa.
The shooting occurred near Motel 6 at State College Boulevard and La Palma Avenue, close to the 91 Freeway, Anaheim police said on X, formerly Twitter.
Delgadillo is wanted for his alleged involvement in a deadly shooting at a bar in Marshalltown, Iowa on June 1. The victim in that incident, Ramon Alexis Feliciano Nieves, 41, died from fatal gunshot wounds.
While the exact events leading up to the shooting have not yet been disclosed, police said law enforcement opened fire and U.S. Marshals asked Anaheim police to assist.
It’s unclear how many times the teen was hit by gunfire as he remains hospitalized in unknown condition. Authorities said one innocent bystander was also injured in the shooting with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police in Iowa said at least one other suspect was arrested for allegedly helping Delgadillo escape the local manhunt in Marshalltown.
