Authorities are investigating after a body washed ashore in San Pedro Thursday.

Los Angeles Fire Department crews responded to the 2300 block of West Paseo Del Mar shortly before 1 p.m.

Sky5 video captured LAFD’s lifeguard division, along with a helicopter, arriving at the base of a seaside cliff near Royal Palms Park where the body was found.

The body was airlifted to a nearby public parking area where it was removed and covered by a police canopy for investigation.

Los Angeles police confirmed the case would be a death investigation, but no additional information, including the person’s gender, age or body condition, was released.
