Several small fires along the 10 Freeway in Mid-City Los Angeles slowed traffic on Sunday, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Reported at about 11:32 a.m., the grass fires were spread across the westbound side of the 10 near La Brea Avenue. The fires caused severe traffic jams and crews advised travelers to avoid that portion of the freeway.

No structures were threatened by the fires.

They were knocked down by 12:06 p.m., the fire department said. No injuries were reported.

The fires were being investigated as having “potentially suspicious starts,” though they weren’t officially called arsons as of Sunday afternoon.

No additional details were immediately made available.
