Disneyland union employees and Disney negotiators have reached a tentative contract agreement on a new three-year contract.
Master Service Council, representing 14,000 workers across the theme park resort, said the new contract contains “significant wage increases, security increases and additional premiums.”
“We have fought hard for the past four months and this tentative agreement would not have been possible without the strength we showed this past week with our rally and Unfair Labor Practice vote,” Disneyland Workers Rising said in a statement.
“We stood up to the company’s unfair labor practices and showed them that we were willing to do whatever it took to get the contract we deserved. Our solidarity and victory today sends a message to workers everywhere – when we fight, we win.”
The news comes four days after union members approved a strike authorization vote after holding a protest outside the theme park resort two days before.
Disneyland cast members represented by the Master Service Council will vote on the tentative agreement on July 29.
“We care deeply about the wellbeing of our cast members and are pleased to have reached a tentative agreement with Master Services Council that addresses what matters most to our cast while positioning Disneyland Resort for future growth and job creation,” Disneyland officials said in a statement.
Should the cast members have held a strike, it would have been the first time workers had walked off the job since 1984.
