Multiple school buses were destroyed in a fire outside the San Jacinto Unified School District offices on Thursday.

A School District spokesperson said the burning buses, which are provided to the SJUSD through a contract with the Hemet Unified School District, were extinguished by Cal Fire, “resulting in quick containment and minimizing loss.”

The spokesperson did not say exactly how many buses were affected, but footage from the scene showed at least two buses fully engulfed in flames, as well as fire racing up the side of another bus.

“Additionally, transportation of students was unaffected,” the spokesperson added.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
