KTLA will field a team of cyclists this weekend who will ride 100 miles to raise money to help people living with MS.

It’s the annual MS Bay to Bay ride, and KTLA’s participation in this event is a tradition that was started by the late Sam Rubin.

The ride brings in more than $2,000,000 annually.  The money goes toward new treatments for MS and research into a cure.

MS is an unpredictable neurological condition that strikes people  in the prime of their lives.   Effects can include weakness, fatigue, tingling, or even the loss of the ability to write, speak or walk.

Normally, cyclists who take part in the event ride from Irvine to San Diego.  But this year, because of a military exercise at Camp Pendleton, the route has been changed.   It will begin October 17 in Carlsbad and end at Ingram Plaza in San Diego.
