As of Wednesday afternoon, the Santa Ana wind-fueled Palisades Fire in Los Angeles had scorched more than 11,000 acres and destroyed an estimated 1,000 structures, many of them homes, officials said.
Los Angeles County Fire Chief Anthony Marrone said a “high number” of people were injured, primarily for failing to evacuate.
