Fifty years ago this weekend, is the anniversary of the fall of Saigon. At Heroes Hall at the Orange County Fair and Event Center ECHOES OF CONFLICT: REMEMBERING VIETNAM. The exhibit features uniforms, weaponry, photographs, and letters detailing firsthand accounts highlighting the cost of war and its lasting effects on individuals and society. The ocfair.com/heroes-hall website says admission to this exhibition is free.

There’s five acres of landscaping and a 15-thousand square foot home here, the Bauer Estate & Gardens, which is making its debut as the 60th Pasadena Showcase House of Design. Acclaimed as the finest creation of famous architect Reginald D. Johnson, this 1928 Monterey colonial estate was built by Peter Hall of Gamble House. This was designated by the City of Pasadena in its 2012 study of Historic Designed Gardens.  It’s 18 major rooms have been transformed by top interior and landscape designers. Tickets to see the resulting craftsmanship are a fundraiser for the Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts (PSHA), a non-profit organization that supports music programs and other arts initiatives. Tickets are available on the website: pasadenashowcase.org.
