A suspect remains at large after a 12-year-old boy was killed in a shooting at a Compton park Friday afternoon.
Los Angeles County deputies responded to a shooting on the 2100 block of Oris Street near Fig/Oleander Park shortly before 4 p.m.
The boy was found with gunshot wounds. He was transported to the hospital where he died from his injuries.
No suspects were found at the scene and it’s unclear what led up to the fatal shooting. Sky5 footage showed authorities had cordoned off a playground at Fig/Oleander Park, which was located in a residential area.
The suspect remains at large. He was described as a male wearing all black clothing, including a black ski mask, and was last seen running northbound on Oleander Avenue.
No further details, including the boy’s identity, were released as police continue investigating.
