A man was arrested after allegedly going on a tire-slashing spree across West Covina.
The suspect was identified as William Berni, 32, according to the West Covina Police Department.
On July 28, police responded to 16 separate reports of vandalism in the 1800 block of W. Yarnell Street and at a nearby apartment complex.
Officers arrived at the scene and began investigating. Surveillance footage gathered from several locations showed the suspect sneaking into driveways and parking lots at night and slashing the tires of parked vehicles.
Through collected evidence and tips from witnesses, investigators identified Berni as the primary suspect.
On Aug. 1, a victim called the police after spotting Berni walking around near his home. Officers arrived shortly and arrested the man for felony vandalism.
The motive behind the incidents remains unclear.
