The Los Angeles Police Department took a woman into custody after a lengthy standoff in the Westlake District on Thursday.

The woman, whose identity was not released, was armed with a knife after a reported assault with a deadly weapon near 3rd Street and La Fayette Park Place, Officer Madison told KTLA.

The 40-year-old barricaded herself shortly after 8:20 a.m., though she was taken into custody shortly before 1 p.m., police said.

Early reports indicated this could have been a case of domestic violence, though that has not yet been confirmed.
