Universal Studios Hollywood has begun testing the track for its newest roller coaster, “Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift,” park officials announced on Thursday.
The ride will be the theme park’s first high-speed outdoor coaster, featuring fully rotational cars designed to simulate the signature drifting action of the “Fast & Furious” film franchise.
The state-of-the-art attraction will span 4,100 feet of track and incorporate sound-reduction technology for an immersive and quieter adrenaline rush, according to the theme park.
Riders will queue inside a garage-style structure before boarding one of four cars inspired by the franchise’s iconic vehicles. Universal Studios revealed one of the ride vehicles, a model of Dominic Toretto’s 1970 Dodge Charger, this summer.
The remaining ride vehicles will be revealed at a later date, according to park officials.

Guests will be launched at speeds up to 72 miles per hour as they travel through through a series of banked turns and inversions, including a loop over the Starway Escalator that connects the park’s upper and lower lots.
The coaster is set to open in 2026. The specific date has not yet been announced.
