Two people in a pursuit in Orange County Thursday night were taken into custody, though not before alleged driver in the chase nuzzled a dog that had been in the vehicle with them.
It’s unclear what the driver and or passenger in the vehicle were wanted for, but Sky5 caught up with the suspects and deputies with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department at around 11 p.m.
Aerial footage of the chase on surface streets showed the suspects pulling into a cul-de-sac in the area of Filmore and Arthur drives in the city of Stanton.
The driver parked in a home’s driveway, where the vehicle was quickly surrounded by deputies with guns drawn, as well as at least one K-9 unit at the scene.
After a brief standoff with authorities, the passenger exited the vehicle first and surrendered. Moments later, the dog was spotted as it stuck its head out of the passenger side window.
It appeared that authorities ordered the driver to exit the passenger-side window, presumably because they didn’t want the suspect’s dog to jump out of the car. Before raising his hands to surrender, the man leaned forward and was seen nuzzling the dog.
Deputies were then seen taking the pair into custody. The dog, who ended up jumping out of the window, was likely turned over to the custody of animal control in Orange County.
