Jillian Smukler joined the KTLA 5 News team as a reporter in August 2025, returning to her Southern California roots. She comes to Los Angeles from Salt Lake City, Utah, where she was an anchor for ABC4 News, leading Good Morning Utah and ABC4 News at Midday. Prior to that, she worked at KEZI 9 News in Eugene, Oregon, the market’s leading station.
An accomplished journalist, Jillian has been nominated for two Emmy Awards: one for her live coverage of first responders being ambushed by a gunman in Oregon during her first year as a report, and another for her story marking the 10-year anniversary of legalizing gay marriage in Utah. She is committed to delivering exclusive, impactful journalism to her hometown.
