LOS ANGELES (KTLA) – Two Mega Millions players in California came up just short of a $760 million payday.

Tickets sold at The Hero Market in the San Bernardino County community of Yucca Valley in San Bernardino County and a Safeway in Morgan Hill — located in Santa Clara County — matched all five numbers in Tuesday night’s drawing but didn’t hit the Mega Ball, the California Lottery officials announced.

Instead of the big jackpot, those two tickets are worth $226,328 each.

Thursday’s winning numbers were 56, 66, 67, 68, and 69, and the Mega Ball was 18. The jackpot for Friday’s drawing climbs to an estimated $825 million.

The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 302,575,350.

In California, proceeds from lottery ticket sales, including unclaimed prizes, benefit public schools. Since the games first arrived in the Golden State in 1985, the California Lottery has raised more than $46 billion for public education, officials said.
