Firefighters on Monday continued to battle multiple wildfires that erupted in Southern California’s Inland Empire over the weekend, burning near homes and forcing evacuations.

Crews appeared to be gaining the upper hand on the majority of the fires, with the Wolf Fire burning in Banning remaining one of the most active.

Wolf Fire – Riverside County

The Wolf Fire broke out shortly after 3 p.m. on Sunday in the area of Old Banning Idyllwild Road and Wolfskill Truck Trail in Banning.

As of Monday morning, CalFire reported that the blaze had scorched 1,400 acres with 10% containment.

Evacuation orders remained in place for the following zones: BAN-0538B, RVC-0650, RVC-0653, RVC-0651A, RVC-0749, RVC-0750, RVC-0828, RVC-POPPETFLATS1, RVC-TWINPINES1, MRF-TWINPINES2, MRF-0539, MRF-0751, RVC-POPPETFLATS4.

Evacuation warnings were in place for the following zones: RVC-0651B, RVC-0541, RVC-0655, RVC-0654, RVC-0830, RVC- VISTAGRANDE, RVC-POPPETFLATS2, RVC-POPPETFLATS3, RVC-0898, RVC-1000.

WOLF FIRE – CAL FIRE HOMEPAGE

An evacuation center was opened at Hemet High School, located at 41701 E. Stetson Ave. in Hemet. An animal shelter is open at 581 S Grand Ave, San Jacinto.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Mandalay Fire – Riverside County

The Mandalay Fire was reported shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Sunday near Tyler Street and Mandalay Court in Riverside.

As of Sunday night, CalFire reported that the blaze had burned just under 100 acres with no containment, but officials stated that forward progress had been stopped.

“We have seen some small flare-ups throughout the morning,” said KTLA’s Erin Myers from the scene Monday morning.

Evacuation orders have been lifted after being issued on Sunday afternoon.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Mindy Fire – Riverside County

The Mindy Fire was reported a little after 3:45 p.m. on Sunday near Mindy Way east of Decoursey Road in Aguanga.

As of Monday morning, CalFire reported it had burned about 100 acres and was 100% contained.

All evacuation orders have been lifted after fire crews worked overnight to increase the containment.

Officials have not released a possible cause for the fire.

Lake Fire – San Bernardino County

The Lake Fire was reported just before 4 p.m. on Saturday near Highway 173 and Cedar Springs Dam Trail near Silverwood Lake in the San Bernardino County Mountains.

Cal Fire reported that forward progress on the blaze had been stopped Sunday evening.

As of Monday morning, CalFire reported it had burned 485 acres and was 25% contained.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Cable Fire – San Bernardino County

The Cable Fire erupted around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday near Martin Ranch Road and Cable Lane in Cable Canyon.

As of Monday morning, the fire had burned approximately 15 acres, just off the 15 Freeway in the Devore area of San Bernardino, and was 15% contained.

Evacuation orders connected to the blaze have been lifted. One firefighter was hospitalized with a heat-related injury.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

No significant damage to any structures was reported in any of the incidents.
