Authorities say an intoxicated woman driving a Mercedes collided with three bicyclists in Huntington Beach on Monday morning, killing one of them.

Amber Calderon, 43, of Long Beach, is facing charges of felony DUI, possession of narcotics, gross vehicular manslaughter, and hit-and-run in connection with the crash, which occurred on Pacific Coast Highway near Beach Boulevard at approximately 6:45 a.m.

“Our preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of a 2006 Mercedes E-Class hit the three bicyclists as they rode on the shoulder of Pacific Coast Highway,” said Corbin Carson, a spokesperson for the Huntington Beach Police Department.

Calderon was arrested roughly a half mile from the scene of the collision once she eventually stopped, Carson said.
