1 killed in multi-vehicle crash on 15 Freeway in Riverside County

One person was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on the 15 Freeway in Jurupa Valley.

On Aug. 30, California Highway Patrol officers responded to the crash on the northbound lanes, north of the Limonite Avenue exit, around 3:40 a.m.

Four vehicles were involved in the collision —  two SUVs and two sedans. Photos from the scene showed that one SUV was totaled, another SUV and sedan had front-end damage, while the fourth car had been pushed into a brush area off the freeway.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene. Another person was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries, while several others involved were uninjured.

The circumstances leading up to the deadly crash remain unclear. A SigAlert was issued, shutting down all northbound lanes and the Limonite Avenue on-ramp.

The Riverside County Coroner’s office responded to the scene. No further details, including the victim’s identity, were released. 

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
