Two suspects were arrested after a man was stabbed to death in Riverside.
On June 29, Riverside police responded to a stabbing on the 9900 block of Magnolia Avenue in the Arlington neighborhood around 7:20 a.m.
Arriving officers found the victim, Michael Pope, 58, of Riverside, lying on the ground with multiple stab wounds. He was transported to the hospital where he died from his injuries.
The suspects fled the area before police arrived.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a physical altercation involving Pope and the suspects had taken place. During the confrontation, the victim was stabbed multiple times, police said.
With information from dispatchers, officers located the suspects nearby. They were identified as Christopher James Buschbaum, 36, and Myron Daniels, 67, both of whom are local transients.

They were arrested for murder and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center. Both are being held without bail.
“This was a senseless act of violence,” said Riverside Police Captain Chad Milby of the Investigations Division. “Thanks to the quick actions of our dispatchers in obtaining critical information, the swift response by our patrol officers, and the thorough investigative work by our homicide detectives, these two murder suspects are off the streets.”
Further details, including a motive or whether the suspects and victim were known to each other, were not released.
