Two suspects were arrested after a 21-year-old man was robbed and fatally shot in Riverside County.
On July 14, Jurupa Valley sheriff’s deputies responded to an assault with a deadly weapon near Golden West Avenue and Condor Drive shortly after midnight.
Deputies found the victim, Jose Martinez-Contreras, 21, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition. He died from his injuries six days later.
The suspects fled the scene before deputies arrived. Investigators later identified Lorenzo Howse Jr., 19, of Bloomington, as a suspect.
On July 18, he was taken into custody during a search warrant in Bloomington. He was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for attempted murder.
Detectives later learned the victim had also been targeted in an armed robbery before he was fatally shot.

The armed robbery suspect was identified as Darnell White, 19, of Jurupa Valley. On July 20, White was located at his home and arrested for murder and robbery.
No further details, including a possible motive or whether the victim and suspects were known to each other, were released.
The deadly incident remains under investigation.
