One man is behind bars and another recovering after a stabbing in Fullerton early Monday morning.

The attack was reported at about 1 a.m. near the intersection of West Houston and South Roosevelt avenues, and when officers arrived, they found a man “in the street suffering from several wounds consistent with an edged weapon,” the Fullerton Police Department said in a news release.

Officers “began life-saving measures” and the man was taken to a local trauma center. He’s expected to survive.

The suspected assailant fled before officers arrived, but he was found and arrested within 30 minutes, police said.

“The weapon believed to have been used during the assault was recovered,” police said.

Neither the victim’s nor the attacker’s identities have been released by police.

The attacker was booked into Fullerton City Jail for attempted murder and weapons violations.

“Based on our investigation, this is an isolated incident with subjects familiar with each other,” police said. “We have no reason to believe there is a threat to public safety as it relates to this incident.”
