An inmate who escaped from a Los Angeles facility was located and taken into custody Saturday.
Justin Gutierrez, 32, was serving his sentence at a Male Community Reentry Program facility when he walked away at around 7:40 p.m. on Friday, said the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
After receiving an alert Gutierrez had removed his ankle monitor, authorities launched a search of the buildings and grounds, but he was nowhere to be found.
On Saturday afternoon, Gutierrez was located in South Gate at around 1:43 p.m. where he was taken into custody.
His case will be referred to the Los Angeles County District Attorney for possible escape charges, authorities said.

Gutierrez was admitted to the center on Aug. 22. He is currently serving a six-year sentence for robbery, as a second striker.
The Male Community Reentry Program allows eligible offenders committed to state prison to serve the end of their sentences in the re-entry center and provides them with the programs and tools to transition from custody to the community.
Authorities note that 99 percent of all people who have left an adult institution, camp, or community-based program without permission have been apprehended.
