The 17-year-old girl who was fatally stabbed in Azusa on Friday has been identified by her family, according to reports.
Angelina Gonzales, an Azusa High School student, was the victim in the attack in the 300 block of North Solano Avenue, which is near campus, her family told the Los Angeles Daily News.
Her school district described her as a cheerleader, wrestler and award-winning artist whose work has been displayed in the U.S. Capitol.
“Her creative talents and vibrant personality enriched our community in countless ways,” the district said in a statement.
Gonzales was stabbed multiple times, and an 18-year-old acquaintance of hers was taken into custody after the attack.
His identity, the nature of their relationship and a possible motive behind the attack have not been released.
A GoFundMe has been set up for the Gonzalez family.
