An investigation is ongoing after a Bell Police Department officer shot an allegedly armed man Sunday night.

The shooting occurred a few minutes before 10:30 p.m. in the 6700 block of Chanslor Avenue, and the man who was shot was taken to a local hospital for treatment, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, which is assisting with the investigation.

That man, whose identity has not been revealed, was released from the hospital and booked for assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer, the LASD said.

“The suspect’s firearms were recovered at the scene of the incident,” officials added.
