One person has died and five others, including a child, were rescued after a boat capsized in waters off Redondo Beach Sunday, authorities confirmed to KTLA.
Crews with the Los Angeles County and Redondo Beach fire departments responded to reports of the capsized vessel about one miles out from Avenue C in Redondo Beach around 1 p.m.
According to early reports, rescuers found five people, a child and the captain of the vessel among them, clinging to the overturned 25-foot boat and were able to get them back to shore at around 2:30 p.m.

All five survivors were taken to a nearby hospital where they were listed in stable condition, the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department said in an update.
Details are extremely limited at this time and it’s unclear what exactly caused the vessel to capsize, but officials said divers located a sixth person, an adult male, who had gotten trapped in the boat during the ordeal.
“Life saving measures were performed. Unfortunately, the male adult died at the scene,” authorities added.
The sheriff’s department, as well as the United States Coast Guard are investigating the incident.
