Deputies were involved in a standoff with a burglary suspect who crashed after leading them on a pursuit in Norwalk Wednesday morning.

The incident began around 7:45 a.m. when a burglary call was reported on the 15300 block of Norwalk Boulevard.

Arriving deputies spotted a vehicle believed to belong to the suspect and ended up engaging in a pursuit, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson confirmed.

The chase went on for about a mile before the suspect crashed into the side of a semi-truck on the 5 Freeway off-ramp to Rosecrans Avenue.

The unidentified suspect then refused to come out of the vehicle, prompting officials to close the ramp.

Sky5 was over the scene around 9 a.m. as multiple patrol units surrounded the suspect’s vehicle, which remained partially under the big rig.

About two hours later, the suspect was taken into custody, according to a CHP spokesperson. No description of them was released.

The southbound 5 Freeway Rosecrans Avenue off-ramp opened shortly after the suspect was taken into custody.
