A 41-year-old Santa Ana man has been arrested for allegedly stealing sports and other equipment from a Santa Fe Springs high school Monday night.
The gear — goal posts, “miscellaneous turf materials,” two gator carts and about 55 sheets of aluminum — was taken just before 9:15 p.m. Monday from a construction site near the track at Santa Fe High School, 10400 Orr and Day Road, the Whittier Police Department said in a news release.
The stolen goods are worth about $10,000, police added.
Investigators identified Mark Navarro, an employee of the construction site, as the suspected thief, and he was arrested at about noon Tuesday as he was “in the process of selling the stolen materials at a recycling center in Santa Ana,” police said.
All of the stolen materials were returned to the school.
It’s unclear what charges Navarro could face, as Los Angeles County jail records do not list any bail or court date information for him, though they do mention Navarro’s was a felony arrest.
