A suspect remains at large after an elderly man was left hospitalized from a hit-and-run crash in L.A.’s Koreatown neighborhood.
The victim was only identified only as a 71-year-old man by the Los Angeles Police Department.
On Dec. 13, the victim was standing next to his vehicle on New Hampshire Avenue, just south of 8th Street, at around 6:40 p.m.
That’s when the suspect, driving a pickup truck, struck the man while he was standing there, police said. The suspect sped away from the scene without stopping to help.
The pickup truck, described as an older model, white Ford F-150 truck, was last seen going westbound on James M. Wood Boulevard from New Hampshire Avenue.
The pedestrian was transported to the hospital for treatment and is expected to survive.
“Motorists are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves,” LAPD said. “The public is also reminded that pedestrians must obey all traffic laws and cross the street when it is safe.”
A reward of up to $50,000 is available to anyone who provides information leading to the suspect’s identification, apprehension and conviction.
Anyone with information on the incident can call Detective Holmes at 213-473-0238. The public can also call the LAPD at 1-877-527-3247.
Anonymous tips can be provided to L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at lacrimestoppers.org.
