Roads are closed on Highway 138 from Old Mill to Interstate 15 and on Highway 173 at Highway 138. “Due to increased fire behavior and visibility concerns, portions of I-15 remain impacted,” officials said.

Heavy smoke is visible in the area and structures are threatened as the fire pushes toward Hesperia. “Be prepared to leave at a moment’s notice,” CAL FIRE advised.

Both air and ground crews have responded to the scene, which is a popular recreation area in the San Bernardino mountains. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

“Fire crews are continuing to work through the night to build containment lines and protect nearby communities,” a CAL FIRE official said. “Weather conditions remain a challenge, with gusty south winds (15–25 mph) and low humidity expected to persist into the evening. Conditions are forecast to improve overnight, but winds are expected to increase again Sunday afternoon.”

“We are monitoring the fire Southwest of Silverwood Lake,” said Victor Valley/Adelanto Station Captain Ken Lutz. “Please follow official websites for instructions. If you are near the location, be prepared in case conditions change.”

Fire crews will be working overnight to contain the fire and extinguish any new hot spots.
