Authorities are searching for a suspect after a 26-year-old woman was found dead inside a Ventura County residence over the weekend.
Deputies responded to “multiple calls stating a female may have been murdered” shortly after 9 p.m. on the 12000 block of Sisar Road, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office stated in a post on Facebook Monday morning.
That address is between Santa Paula and Ojai in an unincorporated area of Ventura County known as Upper Ojai.
Investigators confirmed that a female was found dead in the residence and that evidence indicated she was the victim of a homicide.
In an update Monday afternoon, she was identified as 26-year-old Carolyn Nino De Rivera of Ojai.
Detectives with the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau have taken over the investigation and are searching for the suspect, who remains outstanding. No description of the suspect, whom investigators said is “known” to them, was provided.
The Sheriff’s Office stated that the incident appeared to be isolated.
Anyone with further information about the case was asked to contact Detective Marco at 805-384-4739.
