Air quality map
Numerous wildfires have hurt air quality in Southern California, as shown on Jan. 9, 2025, in a South Coast Air Quality Management District map.

As of Thursday morning, Pasadena and the nearby area was experiencing hazardous air quality, the worst level on the scale provided by the South Coast Air Quality Management District, likely from the nearby Eaton Fire.

Similarly, air in the Pacific Palisades is hazardous due to the Palisades Fire, and the air on Catalina Island is hazardous, likely due to winds driving smoke south.

Nearby La Cañada-Flintridge is experiencing very unhealthy air quality, as are El Monte, Arcadia and West Covina from the Eaton Fire and Santa Monica, Malibu and Marina del Rey due to the Palisades Fire.

Unhealthy air has been detected in numerous areas, including Agoura Hills, Burbank, Hollywood, Inglewood and Long Beach.

Air that is unhealthy for sensitive groups has been detected on the edges of the unhealthy air.
