A woman is speaking out after she was reportedly attacked by a stranger in broad daylight while walking down the street in Hollywood.
Surveillance footage from a nearby business captured model Candy Tansiri walking down Sunset Boulevard near Bronson Avenue at around 4 p.m. on Oct. 22 just moments before she says a man she’d never seen before assaulted her.
“I was shocked,” Tansiri, who lives nearby, told KTLA’s Lindsey Peña. “I was shocked and horrified.”
She recalled that her alleged attacker was carrying shoes and a plastic bag, the latter of which he swung at her head, leaving her with a cut above her left eye, a badly bruised lip and other cuts.
“There was something inside [the bag]. I don’t know what it was, but it was very heavy,” she explained. This kind of thing has never happened in my life. I’ve never been attacked before.”
While in the hospital for treatment, Tansiri filed a police report, telling detectives, who have yet to make an arrest, that she will absolutely recognize her attacker if she sees him again.
A working model, Tansiri told KTLA that the assault has not only affected her ability to book jobs but has a negative impact on her personal sense of safety and security. She said she’s speaking out about the attack in hopes of warning others to always be on alert.
“Since this happened, I’m scared to be out, to be honest,” she said. “I’m still processing. I completely lost confidence for walking around.”
Officials with the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to KTLA that they are investigating the incident and urged anyone with information to contact the department’s Hollywood Division at 213-972-2971. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call the L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-222-8477.
