An additional human leg was discovered Thursday after a severed leg was found in Palos Verdes Estates the day before.

On Wednesday, the partial leg was found on the Bluff Cove Trail near the 800 block of Paseo Del Mar, and no other body parts were found, Capt. Aaron Belda of the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department told the Los Angeles Daily News.

on Thursday at around 1 p.m., authorities found a second leg while searching the area. Later, a femur was also found. It’s unclear whether the two legs and femur are from the same person.

The discovery comes the day after the disappearance of a pair of boaters whose vessel was found less than two miles away.

Officials said there is no “direct indication” that the remains were connected to the missing boaters, but all possibilities are being considered.

“We’re not ruling anything out, but that has not been determined at this point,” Belda said. “No identification has been made and we don’t have any supporting information to believe that they are connected.”

A cadaver dog is expected to “search the area thoroughly” on Thursday afternoon as authorities continue searching for more possible limbs.

The city also reiterated Belda’s point that while it’s possible the limbs are tied to the missing men, no direct evidence has emerged thus far.

“It is not being ruled out, and investigators are considering all possibilities,” the release said.
