An allegedly intoxicated driver caused a three-car crash that killed a teen girl, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department.

The crash occurred just before 8:15 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of Edinger Avenue and Beach Boulevard, police said in a news release.

Police said the driver of a westbound Honda Accord somehow crossed the center divider line and hit a Lexus RX head-on. At some point, at least one of the vehicles also collided with a Lexus GS.

The driver of the Accord, a 44-year-old woman from Santa Ana, sustained major injuries and was taken to a local hospital. Police said that “impairment is suspected.”

The Accord’s passengers, two 15-year-old girls, were both hurt.

One, a Westminster resident, succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. The other is expected to survive.

The other two drivers, a 23-year-old woman from Westminster and a 75-year-old man from Santa Ana, sustained minor injuries.

Anyone with information is asked to call Traffic Investigator C. Houlston at 714-536-5559.
