A python that startled diners at a Monrovia In-N-Out drive-thru has been reunited with its owner, the Pasadena Humane Society said.

The 4-foot-long, 3.6-pound snake was found on Tuesday at the newly opened restaurant on Huntington Drive, where an employee spotted it slithering through the drive-thru lane.

Officials said the employee who found the reptile made the “surprising discovery” and took matters into their own hands, bringing it to the Humane Society shelter.

“They seem to have been well taken care of, so it’s possible they only recently escaped their home,” the shelter said in a Facebook post at the time. “Please spread the word so we can locate their guardian!”

The owner came forward after seeing the story on the news and picked up the pet from the shelter.

Comments on social media have ranged from heartfelt – to hilarious.

“Double-Double with a Shake, not Snake,” wrote another.

Another stated, “This is one of the most SoCal posts I’ve ever seen…”
